Professor Ariel Abramzon 1931-2000
This article was written jointly with the outstanding physicist-chemist Professor Ariel Abramson in Leningrad in 1990. In those difficult and uncertain years in Soviet Union, the article was not published. The article attempts to consider some purely theoretical aspects of highly concentrated emulsions stabilized by high-molecular-weight surfactants. Such emulsions were unusual for those years but are now of great practical interest.
Abstract
The paper summarizes the authors' experimental results and literature data on the adsorption of high-molecular-weight surfactants forming network structures on the interface. The parameters and coefficients in the derived equations are clearly understandable based on the concept of adsorption in an effective layer.
